Long-Term Updates:
Trying to catch up on the 100K Project progress? You’ve come to the right place! Here’s what we’ve done so far, new updates will be posted on the home page!
June, 2016
Starting Money: $250
Ending Money: $610
Monthly Profit: $360
This was our first month on the Project! I started by building the 100K Project Website, forming the rules and scope of the project, and sharing a little about myself. My money-making ventures started very small, basically using one of my existing hobbies (going to auctions and “bargain hunting”) to find underpriced items and selling them on facebook/craigslist. While I knew this probably wasn’t my big, long-term plan, I needed to boost this $250 into something more usable. It started pretty well, I successfully bought and sold a couple dozen things, and turned a profit. It was enjoyable but time consuming, and it was often difficult to get consistent customers (and finding time to meet each one was tough). Overall, a success, but I certainly experienced some of the potential shortcomings of this venture.

July, 2016
Started Money: $610
Ending Money: $675
Monthly Profit: $65
This month was very busy on a personal level, family trips and activities occupied a large amount of my time. This further exposed some issues with the “auction buy-sell” strategy, as my time investment took a hit, my revenue plummeted. I was able to go to one small auction and sold some leftover inventory from previous sales (and found a ton of great deals for our home as a side effect!), but only ended up making a little bit of money. The biggest progress in July, though, wasn’t ultra-tangible in money. I built a small table from reclaimed wood for my sister-in-law, making $40… and officially started my second venture, building rustic-style furniture!

Another busy month, but probably the best so far! Our furniture build venture started slowly but successfully, we sold out first table to a very happy customer for $450! In addition, we received additional orders for two tables and our first customer was so pleased that she ordered a matching bench! September will definitely be busy fulfilling these orders, hopefully getting the project some huge progress and some nice revenue!

missed a couple months of furniture buildilng, and took a bit of a break to re-group and re-focus our efforts. Throughout February-April, we worked on getting ready to launch our new small business, With the Grain Weddings. in mid-May we launched, and are starting to see some semi-regular sales! while the investment has been significant, revenue is already surpassed our previous efforts, and we've only been open for a couple of weeks. This might be a truly sustainable and scalable business! Stay Tuned!
